Today's Buzzword - HIPPO

Apparently I have a thing for hippos. I know why. It's because they're ADORABLE.

I will be uploading another hippo to my deviantART account as soon as it's finished.

Most of my sketches are in biro or fineliner - you can tell which is which quite easily. These are both fineliner - the lines are crisp. The coloured one was done quite simply on photoshop with a texture layered over the top - takes about 20 minutes but it's sometimes nice to pep up your sketches.

Edwardian Hippo is dedicated to Beccy, founder of the Burnley Ninja Appreciation Society. Are you a Ninja Hollerer? Can you hit five notes?

Hot Chocolate Hippo is also known as "God is a Hippo" and is a companion piece to "God Gets Cramps Too"

Call of the Bees

So Einstein reckoned that four years after the bees disappear, human life will vanish. The bees are disappearing, hives collapsing and dispersing, and no one knows why.

Why would that affect us? They pollenate everything and they're the base of a hell of a lot of food chains.

It upsets me. I absolutely adore bees - there was a bumble bee the size of my thumb outside the other day and it made me really happy... but it was by itself. It was disorientated and kept slamming into the wall. It was dying, and it's not even Summer yet.

Bah.

Surprise!

My friend Beccy and I have lunch once a month or so. I say that, but it tends to be three or four times a month, one month in six. We lack consistency.

Anyway, as random as our scheduling is, our sense of humour is even more so. Let's just say ninjas aren't stealthy killers, we can protect the inbred, and if you buy washing machines from an intergalactic superstore you get some seriously great perks.

Currys are trying to come up with a competitive offer to parry the intergalactic surprise but you have to admit, it's a tough offer to beat.

One day, I'll explain the ninja thing. Maybe.

Doodle-a-day

So for a long time Blogger scared me. I'm a LJ whore - friends pages are a godsend to keep up with your favourite arty folks and friends.

Then my good friend Donna showed me the glory that is Pageflakes and RSS feeds suddenly became easy! So obviously I wanted a blog.

So here it is. I doodle a LOT. I go through a sketchbook a fortnight. Most of it is shit. What is not will be posted here. A select few will be painted and prettified and submitted to my DeviantART account.

I think I can do a doodle a day. We shall see!
